She is an award-winning artist and teacher who meets with several private students to tutor them in painting on a regular basis. She is a past gallery coordinator at the NCCAH Gallery and currently serves as curator on the gallery committee. Her art is also well known around town due to her work on the Shamokin Mural Project and the large Christmas cards on Market Street over the years. Recently, she designed both the flyer for her adopted hometown and worked with the organization who restored the 99 steps on Lincoln Street, creating a special painting to commemorate that.
Several of the pieces in the current show have a distinctly European feel, like Bourree d’ Auvergne and Place des Fetes, both scenes from France. Others, like the large pieces America, CBBH and Hope During Covid, will immediately be relatable to regional folks. Harrington’s work definitely takes you on a journey; through clock factories, parks, flower gardens, restaurants and cafes. She often includes the faces of people she knows on the figures dotting her street scenes.
